Daina Andries is a co-founder and Head of Product at Epidaurus Health, a health tech startup in Alexandria, Virginia, focused on streamlining prior authorizations for prescription medications. Following a successful application for an SBIR Award from the National Science Foundation, Daina devoted hundreds of hours to interviewing physicians, pharmacists, administrators and health service technicians to document the prior authorization process in as much depth as possible. Alia Hayes discovered her passion for public health in 2003 at Tufts University, earning a BA/MPH with a focus on Nutrition. Her career began as a research assistant at Tufts Friedman School, working on a project to reduce childhood obesity in rural areas across four states. She later shifted to a nutrition intervention role in assisted living and nursing home settings. Seeking change, Alia moved to teaching health to middle school students in Peabody, Massachusetts, where she revamped the health curriculum and collaborated with organizations to enhance student health protections.

In 2017, she joined the Rural Health and Primary Care Section at the NH Department of Health and Human Services. Her work involved improving care quality at Critical Access Hospitals and leading strategic planning initiatives, including the creation of a support group for working mothers. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Alia played a significant role in ensuring equity in vaccine distribution and service planning in New Hampshire.

Dr. Richard McFarland, holding both a Ph.D. and an MD, is the esteemed Chief Regulatory Officer of ARMI/BioFabUSA. Before his distinguished service with ARMI, he served as the Associate Director of Policy for FDA/CBER’s Office of Tissues and Advanced Therapies. He also held a similar role in its precursor, the Office of Cellular, Tissue and Gene Therapies. Zbigniew "Ziggy" Szczepiorkowski is Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center and Professor of Medicine at Geisel School of Medicine. Prof. Szczepiorkowski responsibilities include Director of Transfusion Medicine Service, Cellular Therapy Center and the Transfusion Medicine Fellowship Program. He is also the Medical Director, Blood Donor Program/Apheresis and Section Chief, Clinical Pathology and Laboratory Medicine.

Prof. Szczepiorkowski is an experienced elected leader in professional societies including presidency of AABB and American Society for Apheresis (ASFA). Prior to becoming a founding member of NHLS Andrea was Vice President of Government Affairs and Chief of Staff to the CEO at Butterfly Network, a disruptive digital health company transforming ultrasound with semiconductor technology and artificial intelligence.

Prior to joining Butterfly, Andrea co-lead U.S. Federal Affairs for 3M Company with a focus on 3M’s Health Care Business. While in Washington she also was one of the first Ambassadors for the Global War on Terrorism Memorial Foundation, where she helped advocate for a Memorial to be built on the Mall in Washington, DC to honor the service and sacrifice of all who served in the Global War on Terrorism. Earlier in her career, Andrea spent nearly decade as a U.S. Senate aide. During that time she had the privilege of working for four different U.S. Senators culminating with supporting two Senators on the Environment and Public Works committee with a focus on energy, environmental and regulatory reform issues. Andrea is a proud NH native.

She enjoys advising senior business leaders and executives on engagement and communications strategies with government officials and public policy stakeholders. She holds an M.B.A. from Johns Hopkins Carey Business School and a B.A. in political science from Loyola University Maryland.

CEO, Business and Industry Association (BIA) of New Hampshire

Michael Skelton currently serves as President and CEO of the Business and Industry Association (BIA) of New Hampshire, the state's leading business advocate and statewide Chamber of Commerce. Previously, Michael served as President and CEO of the Greater Manchester Chamber, the state's largest regional Chamber of Commerce. Michael also previously served as Media Spokesmen for PSNH (now Eversource), the state largest electric utility and as VP of Government Affairs for the Greater Manchester Chamber. In total, Michael has more than 15 years of leadership experience in the Chamber of Commerce industry and brings a background in public relations, media relations, economic development, and government affairs to his roles.Michael is member of the Board of Directors of Amoskeag Industries, a member of the Board of Trustees of Manchester’s historic Palace Theatre and was appointed by Governor Sununu to serve as a Board member for the New Hampshire Housing Finance Authority. Michael lives in Bedford, NH with his wife, Emily, and their two children, Colin and Eleanor.

Associate Vice President and Chief Business Development and Innovation Officer, University of New Hampshire

Marc Eichenberger is the Associate Vice President and Chief Business Development and Innovation Officer at the University of New Hampshire and the Managing Director of UNHInnovation. He brings a wealth of experience in bridging the corporate and university ecosystems, intellectual property (IP) commercialization and business development.In his most recent role before joining UNH, Marc help launch venture creation company, Allied Minds. As second employee and serving as the company’s chief operating officer, over 10 years he helped grow this start-up from inception to a public company. Allied Minds commercializes IP from leading US universities, national labs and corporations. The company forms, funds and operates a portfolio of companies based on this IP with the objective of delivering attractive long-term returns to investors and stakeholders. Marc’s experiences in innovation span both life sciences and technology and cut across all functional areas. In addition to leading the company’s operations, he personally closed a number of partnerships with companies around the globe. Prior to helping found Allied Minds, Marc spent over a decade in management consulting mostly with AT Kearney. There he advised mid-size and Fortune 500 companies on a variety of strategy, operations and supply chain issues. His clients represented a spectrum of aerospace, high-technology,  services and industrial companies. Marc graduated with a Master of Business Administration from The Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).

Commissioner, N.H. Department of Business and Economic Affairs

Mr. Taylor Caswell is the first commissioner of the New Hampshire Department of Business and Economic Affairs. First appointed to the position by Gov. Chris Sununu in 2017, Commissioner Caswell serves as the chief economic and marketing official for the state and oversees the state Divisions of Economic Development and Travel & Tourism Development, enabling and growing economic vitality for residents and employers in the Granite State.

In this role, Caswell has defined the narrative of New Hampshire as place where people want to live and work and where companies can grow and thrive in the state’s unique tax and opportunity climate. In collaboration with policy makers, stakeholders and business leaders, he is working to update and modernize the state’s broad infrastructure of community and economic stakeholders into a more strategic and meaningful network that will be critical to sustaining and growing New Hampshire’s economy in the next century. In 2020, Commissioner Caswell pivoted to lead state economic relief recovery efforts in the face of the coronavirus pandemic. BEA spearheaded the state’s economic recovery efforts in coordination with other state agencies and partner organizations around the state.  Caswell also co-chaired the state Economic Reopening Task Force, a bi-partisan public/private group which reviews and recommended sector operations guidance. Since September of 2020, Caswell has also served as the head of the Governor’s Office for Emergency Relief and Recovery (GOFERR), with responsibility for transparent development, deployment and management of more than $2 billion in federal COVID relief and stimulus funds to New Hampshire.

Caswell’s experience in the private sector includes structuring and funding renewable power and affordable housing development, financial services and government relations work for a Fortune 500 energy company.

Prior to joining BEA, he was the executive director of the New Hampshire Community Development Finance Authority and served as the New England regional administrator for the U.S. Housing and Urban Development, a White House-level appointment.

He grew up in Littleton, where he founded PRKR MTN trails, a community-based, 20-mile multi-use mountain bike trail network.  Commissioner Caswell remains an avid year-round outdoor enthusiast and is a regular alpine skier, mountain biker, and hiker.

Co-founder & Board Member, New Hampshire Life Sciences

Cindy is currently a co-founder and board member for NH Life Sciences, an industry association launched in March 2023, NH’s 1 st ever “connecting, convening, and facilitating body for the broader life sciences industry in NH.” Cindy also serves on the NH EPSCoR Council, UMass Lowell’s Chancellor’s Advisory Board, and is Co-Chair of UMass Lowell’s Industrial Advisory Board for the Francis College of Engineering, and Advisory Board member for the Biomedical Engineering department. Prior to her current roles, Cindy’s 30-year professional career spanned across the consumer products, retail, medical device, biotech/pharma, information technology, and consulting industry sectors. She spent 20 years at Sanofi and Genzyme in various roles such as CIO, Director of Operations, & Engineering. Prior to Sanofi Genzyme, Cindy was the Director of Manufacturing Operations at CR Bard Cardiovascular Division, was co-founder Hawkeye Software Systems, a start-up software development company, and held various engineering positions for both CR Bard and Polaroid Corporation earlier in her professional career. Cindy earned a B.S. in Industrial Engineering and M.S. in Manufacturing Engineering and was inducted into the Francis Academy of Distinguished Engineers in 2017.

CEO, Simbex | President, MedTech Collaborative

Greg Lange, president of the MedTech Collaborative and CEO of Lebanon-NH-based Simbex, will kick-off day two of the Northern New England MedTech Conference with introductions and a call to action. In addition to his leadership with Simbex and the MedTech Collaborative, his experience extends to board roles at Alice Peck Day Hospital and TruVue Analytics, and founding the Medtech Collaborative. Greg, a Masters holder from the University of Massachusetts, has a rich background in biomechanics research. He resides in Lyme, New Hampshire, enjoying reading, podcasts, and outdoor activities. Director of Tech Transfer, Dartmouth Office of Entrepreneurship

Kim Rosenfield, J.D. joined the Office of Entrepreneurship & Tech Transfer in 2017 and became Director of Tech Transfer in 2020. Kim has served as a strategic legal and business advisor to universities, medical centers, companies, and entrepreneurs for more than 30 years. She previously worked at MIT and Partners Healthcare Innovations in Cambridge, and served as General Counsel and Board Secretary of the Research Foundation for the State University of New York, which manages all sponsored projects and intellectual property for SUNY’s 32 research campuses, and the UAB Research Foundation. She was previously General Counsel for Stereotaxis, a NASDQ listed university spin-off medical equipment company, and VP Commercial Transactions for a NYSE pharma company. She was a co-founder and member of the management team of BioHorizons, and represented universities, start-ups, and publicly- traded companies as a Member of Mintz Levin in Boston, and before that, as Head of the IP Practice at Sirote Permutt in Birmingham, AL. Kim is a graduate of Yale College and University of Virginia School of Law. She is an avid audience member and supporter of the performing arts – especially when her kids are onstage – and is Board Chair of Camille A. Brown & Dancers. From April to November you can find her jumping into Lake Sunapee after a bike ride.

Senior Vice President, Innovation Lab

Melissa draws on over two decades of experience in R&D, technology, innovation, and leadership to bring new and meaningful ideas to life. She currently leads innovation and commercialization efforts at seven Innovation Institute member and subscription health systems across the country as Senior Vice President for the Innovation Lab. The Innovation Lab has brought over 22 products to market with a pipeline worth 24M (and growing). This has all been done while maintaining a 98% inventor satisfaction rate. Member systems include Avera Health, Bon Secours Mercy Health, Children's Hospital of Orange County, Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health System, MultiCare Health System, and Valley Children's Health. Melissa is also a Bush Foundation Leadership Fellow, published author, and TEDx Speaker.

Managing Director, BioFab Startup Lab

Michael Orrico stands at the helm of the BioFab Startup Lab as its Managing Director. The program, initiated via a grant from the U.S. Economic Development Administration, extends a platform for budding and near-formed enterprises to transition biofabrication research towards commercial viability. With a diverse background meshing business development with technical acumen across the med-tech, biotech, and consulting sectors, Michael’s experience spans over a quarter-century. His leadership stretches across organizations and projects within tissue engineering and regenerative medicine, including pivotal roles at MIT's Cryobiology Lab, AxoGen, and Aastrom Biosciences (now Vericel). An alumnus of the Columbia Business School with an M.B.A. and holding an M.S. in biomedical and mechanical engineering from MIT, Michael's expertise is a blend of business foresight and technical proficiency.

Executive Director, New Hampshire Tech Alliance

Julie Demers is currently the Executive Director of the New Hampshire Tech Alliance, a statewide technology association dedicated to supporting companies at every stage of growth and development – from startups to established leaders in the global economy. A former small business owner, Demers has also served in various roles throughout the state with the NH Sector Partnerships Initiative, the University of New Hampshire-Manchester and the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce. Demers has served as a member of several boards including Pinkerton Academy's Board of Trustees, the University of New Hampshire IT Advisory Board, the New Hampshire State Workforce and Innovation Board, the University of New Hampshire Paul College BIP Advisory Board, and the Currier Museum of Art Advisory Board. She was recognized in 2015 as a member of the New Hampshire Union Leader’s 40 Under Forty Class. She holds a Masters in Public Administration from the University of New Hampshire.
